Heating and cooling

If you are considering upgrading your home heating and cooling, you may like to avoid buying another in ineffecient heater that is expensive to run. Instead, take a look at reverse air conditioners (RCACs) that heat as well as cool.  RCACs are a very efficient and cost effective way to heat your home.

You can also select models that can be controlled remotely for when guests are not in the house and save even more on running costs.

Before investing in an RCAC it’s worth sealing your home with insulation, draught sealing and thermal window treatments first. This will improve occupants’ comfort, while also reducing the size (and energy consumption) of the model you need.

Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning requires the right installer. Check this guide for minimum licensing requirements in each State/Territory.

An air conditioner's efficiency is measured using the Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) for cooling and Coefficient of Performance (COP) for heating. They indicate the ratio of cooling or heating provided relative to the amount of electrical input required to generate it. The higher the numbers, the cheaper to run! Always check that the model is suitable for your local climate zone.

Rebates

There are currently a range of energy savings schemes that offer discounts to upgrade from older inefficient models to new energy efficient models. To find out if you qualify look at the following for a range of government rebates that may apply to you. Do check with your local council if they have any additional rebates you can apply for.
